The rear back-up camera uses a wide-angle lens television camera mounted into the rear tailgate latch and a flip-down display monitor mounted in the overhead console, providing an enhanced rear view to assist drivers in parking, backing up or hitching a trailer. The camera automatically transmits video signals—containing a composite view from the rear of the vehicle—when the ignition switch is on and the driver shifts into reverse. These signals are transmitted to the monitor in order to provide the driver with a color image of the area the camera sees behind the vehicle.
