Brakes. They’re the last components you want to worry about when you’re driving, especially when performance driving. F-Sport Brake Upgrades help improve fade resistance during repeated, severe use, as well as offer a firmer, positive pedal feel. When used with other F-Sport Performance Accessories, they also improve stopping distances*. They’ve been designed with the utmost care to maintain original equipment (OE) brake balance and ABS compatibility, using different piston diameters to optimize clamping force. Fixed-style, forged-aluminum 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers are utilized, with a bolt-in bridge arrangement to achieve a stiffness equivalent to mono-bloc caliper designs.The two-piece brake rotor design also reduces weight thanks to rotors that are attached to aluminum center hubs using special fasteners to accommodate the heat expansion of dissimilar metals. And large cross-drilled, vented cast iron rotors use a patented directional internal fin arrangement with unique right-hand and left-hand castings that help increase cooling and strength. Finished in F-Sport blue with white F-Sport logos, the upgraded brakes are unmistakably dramatic. An aggressive visual appearance is also achieved with noticeably larger calipers and rotors that can be seen easily through the wheel spokes. Center hubs have a special anodized finish for corrosion resistance. Please note that the OE spare tire will not work with either front or rear brake upgrades.
F-Sport Brake Upgrades are available for both the front and rear of the IS, ISC and GS. Front brakes may be upgraded separately or in conjunction with rear brakes; however, front upgrades are required for rear upgrades. No modifications to the brake master cylinder are required. The calipers accommodate the OE brake hoses and retain the indexing feature at the hose attachment point to ensure hoses do not interfere with suspension components. Replacement rotors are vailable separately and do not require replacement of the center hub. Special low-dust F-Sport performance street brake pads are included. Note: some trimming of the rear brake dust shield is required for rear upgrade installation. Directions are included with rear upgrade kit. Factory spare tire will not fit brake upgrades. Brake upgrades will fit 18" factory option, 18" Genuine Lexus Accessory wheels, 18" or 19" F-Sport wheels only. F-Sport equipped IS250 used in stopping distance comparison test was equipped with sway bar kit, shocks, lowering springs, rear member brace, front and rear brake upgrades, 19" wheels and recommended Michelin Pilot Sport Tires.
